The Gin Gimlet
A simple and tasty gin cocktail that’s easy to make at home.
This drink was originally intended to stave off scurvy in the navy, and while I can’t attest to it’s health benefits these days, it’s certainly a zingy and refreshing pick me up!
Ingredients
60ml (2oz) gin
30ml (1oz) fresh lime juice
15ml (1/2oz) sugar syrup
Barspoon lime marmalade
Good ice
Dehydrated lime wheel to garnish (optional)
Equipment
A coupe
A jigger
A barspoon
A shaker
A hawthorn strainer
A fine strainer
Method
Into your shaker small tin add all the ingredients. Fill shaker tin full with ice. Combine tins and shake until the tins become frosted.
Open tins, double strain into the chilled coupe. Garnish with lime wheel, and enjoy!
Suggested Spirits
Using a full two shots of gin, it really is the hero here, so make sure it’s one you like! A citrus forward London Dry style will work best. We’ve used the Adelaide Hills Green Ant Gin because the ants (yes, real ants!) give it an awesome lime and coriander flavour, and other native ingredients such as finger lime really helping with the zestiness of the drink.
